Writing & Public Speaking Camp for Teens

Our camp helps teens build confidence in writing and speaking. Through fun exercises and real-world practice, students learn to organize ideas, craft essays, and present with clarity—developing skills they can use in school and everyday life.

Small group writing sessions includes:

•A copy of The Writer’s Blueprint to Understanding Pre Writing Techniques Workbook

•Writing and speaking assessment

•Focused attention and practice of essay structure and development

•Activities and Writing assignments

Public Speaking

PUBLIC SPEAKING CONFIDENCE

Each session, students will explore a single monologue, speech, poem, or song and practice public speaking techniques like projection, pacing, and audience engagement. By the end of the week, they’ll gain confidence performing in front of others.

Small group speaking sessions includes:

•A fun theme that celebrates the classics, history, song, or theater

  • “Fall: Shakespeare classics”

  • “Winter: Historical speeches”

  • “Spring: Poetry and songs”

  • “Summer: Dramatic and comedic monologues”

•Real world speaking templates address life events from self advocacy to leadership

•Reading comprehension & vocabulary

•Critical thinking & interpretation

•One carefully selected piece per session allows deep focus rather than surface-level exposure.

•Each piece comes with weekly technique focus, helping students master one skill at a time.

•Emphasize confidence, self-expression, and performance skills in a fun, structured way.

What age group is this camp designed for?

This camp is designed for teens ages 12–17. We welcome both beginners and experienced writers/speakers who are eager to build confidence and sharpen their communication skills.

What should my teen bring to camp each day?

This is a pen-and-paper camp—no digital devices will be used during sessions. Please have your teen bring a notebook or journal, pens or pencils, a water bottle, and a snack each day.

What will my teen learn during this camp?

Campers will explore creative and persuasive writing, develop speech outlines, practice voice and body language techniques, and deliver short speeches or monologues in a supportive environment. They’ll walk away with improved confidence in writing essays and public speaking. See tentative agenda above.

What does camp costs cover?

Camp costs includes an essay writing workbook, professional instruction and coaching, the rental space and insurance. You are responsible for transportation, snacks, water, notebook and pencils.

Are there any scholarships?

Although there are no scholarships for this camp at this time, there are opportunities to save.

Save $50.00, if you join our waitlists, or subscribe; You will gain access to early registration and deals.

I will also provide additional savings for same day sign ups during holidays and to those who join the live zoom parent connection calls.

Otherwise the camp is just $250.00 for 5 weeks.

The camp is led by a professional educator and theater artist with over 20 years of experience teaching writing, speech, and performance to youth.
