ABOUT ME
Altesa Baker is a Los Angeles-based trained actor, focusing on personal and professional growth through theater arts education.
My life and work are fueled by being creative with a purpose. Every Course, Service and Product offered here is an extension of more than my experience as a professionally trained actor, but of my passion for sharing the way the arts has continued to transform and inform my perspective. I believe we are all works of art and studying arts education is one of the ways to honor the beauty that makes us human.
My journey as an actor began in college, so I thought. (It turns out I was booked in a diaper commercial at 9 months old and my mom "forgot" to tell me.) Absent that fun fact throughout my child and adult life, the study of acting was a deeply personal choice. I had found something I loved and became voracious in my appetite to learn. This lead me to Grad school where I earned my MFA and also where my personal choice met the professional push into the entertainment industry. It was in school, in the midst of theory and practice, change and challenge, that I grew as a human and artist. It's a path I continue to be grateful for as it has shaped and continues to shape who I am on all levels. My love for the study of acting and it's effectiveness to transform one's life is why I choose to use it's disciplines and craft to help others grow and meet their personal and professional goals.
With 20+ years experience teaching and facilitating art education programs, classes, workshops for adults, children and teens, (Theatricum Botanicum, Outschool, Los Angeles Public Library, The Church On The Way), I effectively combine my MFA training as an Actor and degree in Social Work to observe and celebrate humanity, making room for a holistic approach to learning and course creation.
Actors Training Academy, founded by Altesa Baker, has expanded since its inception in 2019 from providing professional live acting classes/camps and private coaching to youth to include, through its Creative Teaching Studio program, continuing education for K-12 Educators, particularly those who are outside the arts education track. English Language Arts, History and Social Studies teachers, will benefit from our ongoing training in Theater Arts/Acting and Drama via virtual courses and workshops
